Policies
Student Responsibilities and Attitude:
Dance Arts Center of Tampa has the fundamental expectation that students treat each other, teachers, staff and all adults with kindness and respect. Whether taking classes to develop self-esteem, exercise or train for a career in dance, students should have a professional and polite attitude at all times.
Student Arrival and Departure:
Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our students. For this reason, we do not advise that they wait outside the facility during arrival and departure. To ensure that minor students are safe and supervised at all times, we ask that parents accompany them into the lobby and, if arriving early, wait with them until class begins. When picking up students, we ask that parents arrive a few minutes prior to the end of class and wait for their children inside the lobby.
Communication:
Dance Arts Center of Tampa is committed to excellent communication between teachers, students and parents. In order to promote this, we publish a monthly newsletter which is distributed to students. The newsletter is also available at the reception desk, or you may ask the staff for one. Furthermore, teachers are available to discuss any concerns parents may have. To schedule a meeting with a teacher, please call or send an e-mail directly to the teacher (please see the "Contact Us" page for details).
Class Attendance and Tardiness:
In order to make good progress, it is best that students attend class on a regular basis. Students who habitually arrive late are disruptive to the rest of the class. For everyone's benefit, Dance Arts Center of Tampa asks that students to arrive early and be prepared for their class.
Tuition:
Tuition is paid on a monthly basis and is due on the first day of the month. Tuition payments received after the 8th of the month are subject to a late fee of $15.00. Payments may be made by check, money order or cash. If paying by check, please make it payable to Dance Arts Center of Tampa and mark your child's name on the note section. This is important because some students have different last names than their parents. Cash payments must be made in the exact amount because we unable to provide change. Unfortunately, students with delinquent accounts of two months or more may be dismissed. However, students will gladly be re-enrolled (space permitting) without having to pay a new registration fee if their account is made current within one month. Accounts should be paid in full, including tuition, late fees and bank charges in order for students to participate in the annual performance or to register for a new dance season.
Absences:
While we hope students will be able to attend all their classes, we understand that absences may occur. However, Dance Arts Center of Tampa cannot be responsible for student absences. If a student misses a class, he/she may make up the class within the same month. The replacement class needs to be approved by the teacher before attending. There are no refunds for missed classes.
Vacations:
Tuition will be charged to students during the months of August through June, regardless of vacations. If a student takes a vacation between the months of August and June and doesn't pay tuition, he/she may lose his/her place in the class and may be required to re-register.
Annual Dance Arts Performance:
Dance Arts Center of Tampa holds an annual dance concert every June. Costume orders are usually placed during October and November to ensure that they are ready on time. A concert fee is issued to each participating student in order to cover the high cost of theatre rentals and technical crews. Tickets to the performance are available for purchase a few weeks prior to the event. Specific information about the dance concert is included in the monthly newsletter.
